Meet the Founder

Emily-Kate Lonergan is the founder and director of Kansas City Prime Beach Club. A former NCAA Division I beach volleyball athlete and Division II indoor volleyball player, Emily-Kate brings a well-rounded and competitive background to the athletes she trains. Her experience as a multi-sport and crossover athlete gives her unique insight into the demands and benefits of both disciplines—particularly how beach volleyball can elevate indoor performance and create unique opportunities for undersized or utility players.

Her mission in founding KC Prime was clear: to grow the sport of beach volleyball in the Midwest and provide athletes with elite-level training, mentorship, and a clear pathway to success—whether their goals are personal, competitive, or collegiate. Emily-Kate is actively involved in both coaching and daily club operations, ensuring that every athlete receives thoughtful guidance and personalized support. She is deeply invested in building a club culture rooted in relationships, integrity, and hard work, and she leads by example in every aspect of the KC Prime experience.

At KC Prime, our coaching staff is fully bought into the club’s mission. Every coach is selected not only for their skill and experience, but also for their commitment to building strong relationships with athletes and supporting their growth. Our coaches have high-level experience in the sand, and the majority have competed at the collegiate level in either beach or indoor volleyball. Together, our staff is united in creating a positive, competitive, and athlete-centered environment where every player can thrive.
