Training Programs - Summer

National Training Group
About The Program
The Kansas City Prime Beach National Training Group is our highest-level training program, designed for elite athletes ages 14U–18U who are dedicated to competing at the top levels of beach volleyball. Entry into this selective group is by invitation only and based on skill, experience, and commitment. The program runs for 8 weeks during June and July, with athletes training three days per week for two hours each session. This intensive, high-performance environment emphasizes advanced technical development, tactical gameplay, physical conditioning, and mental resilience. The program prioritizes consistent attendance, partner development, and a competitive training culture that mirrors the demands of collegiate beach volleyball.
Tournament Attendance
Participation in a national-level championship event is a requirement for all KC Prime National Training Group athletes. The specific national tournament selected for the season will be announced by the Club Director once availability and event details are confirmed. Athletes must compete in qualifying events throughout the summer to earn a bid to the designated nationals tournament.
Priority registration for key bid-earning events will be offered to KC Prime National Team athletes. While participation in additional regional or national tournaments is highly encouraged for development and exposure, it is not mandatory outside of the chosen nationals event.
Athletes are responsible for selecting their own partners for all competitions. While KC Prime coaches are always available to offer input and recommendations based on skill and team chemistry, all partnership decisions ultimately remain with the athletes themselves.
Recruiting Assistance/Individual Analysis
All KC Prime National Training Group athletes receive personalized recruiting guidance led by Club Director Emily-Kate Lonergan, who brings firsthand experience from the NCAA Division I recruiting landscape. Athletes will receive direct support with highlight film, email communication, and outreach strategies to connect with college coaches who align with their current skill level and long-term goals.
For athletes who are already committed to a collegiate program, our focus shifts to individualized analysis and preparation for the next level. Using practice and match film, we identify key technical and strategic areas for growth and tailor training to raise the athlete’s overall performance. This approach ensures each player is equipped with the tools and mindset needed to thrive in a collegiate beach volleyball environment.
Volunteering
At KC Prime, our motto “Reach Your Prime” goes beyond athletic performance—it reflects who we are as individuals in our community. We believe that reaching your prime includes becoming a strong leader, teammate, and community member.
As part of our National Training Group, athletes will participate in a team-selected community service project during the season. These experiences are designed to build perspective, connection, and purpose beyond the sand. Our goal is not only to develop high-level beach volleyball athletes, but also to inspire compassionate, driven, and well-rounded young leaders.
